Central Lee honors teachers at annual awards

DONNELLSON, IOWA — The Central Lee Community School District recognized the exemplary contributions and dedication of several teachers and staff members during its 2023-24 Annual Awards.
Katie Koller, teacher librarian, was named Teacher of the Year for her exceptional attitude and excitement in her new role. She has provided quality computer science instruction across all grade levels, organized successful events like the book fair and Grand Brunch, and introduced innovative technologies to elementary students. Colleagues praise her organizational skills and willingness to learn and support others whenever needed.
Special education teachers Stacey Faulkner and Amanda Schinstock were co-winners of the Newcomer of the Year award for transforming their shared classroom into a welcoming learning environment. Their collaborative efforts, along with their ability to create effective schedules and build strong relationships with students, have made a significant impact in their first year at Central Lee High School.
The prestigious Chris Gray Award, named in honor of Chris Gray, who retired as the director of facilities in 2022 after a 40+ year career at Central Lee, was awarded to Sandy Meierotto, the district business manager. Meierotto has served the district for 28 years, consistently demonstrating dedication and commitment reminiscent of Gray’s legacy. Her role has been pivotal in maintaining the district's financial stability and overall operations.
The district also recognized two Employees of the Year: Danielle McGraw, a teaching associate, and Rob Ridgway, a janitorial team member. McGraw’s dedication to supporting a student with autism, her positive attitude, and her efforts to enhance the student’s learning experience have been highly commendable. Ridgway’s commitment to his work, particularly in setting up and tearing down equipment for activities, and his overall positive impact on the high school have made him an invaluable member of the district.
Finally, Jeremy Tweedy was recognized as the Bus Driver of the Year for his exemplary service in safely transporting students to and from school. Tweedy serves as the district transportation mechanic while also driving a bus several days a week.

Their exceptional work, along with the efforts of all our staff, ensures Central Lee's tradition of excellence and continues to make us the top choice for students and families.”
