MEETING MINUTES
LEE COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
REGULAR MEETING
April 22, 2024
The Board of Supervisors of Lee County, Iowa, met on Monday, April 22, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., at the County Administration Building, 933 Avenue H, Fort Madison, Iowa.
Present: Garry Seyb, Tom Schulz, Ron Fedler, Chuck Holmes and Matt Pflug
All votes are unanimous unless indicated otherwise.
The Board opened the meeting by reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.
Moved by Schulz, seconded by Pflug, to approve the agenda. Motion carried.
Public Input: Ryan Drenner, inspector for Xiphos, gave the Board an update on the status of the ammonia pipeline.
Moved by Fedler, seconded by Pflug, to approve replacing two full-time paramedics. Motion carried.
Moved by Fedler, seconded by Holmes, to refund $64.00 in erroneously paid taxes to Cynthia Ryland. Motion carried.
Moved by Pflug, seconded by Schulz, to approve a Service Agreement with Nyhart Company for Actuarial Services for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2025. Motion carried.
Moved by Schulz, seconded by Pflug, to approve a change to Section 3.15 in the Personnel Policy due to the passage of the Religious Freedom Reformation Act. Motion carried.
Moved by Schulz, seconded by Pflug, to accept 50 tons allotted from Great River Landfill for beautification and donate 20 tons allotment to the Skunk River Cleanup Project. Motion carried.
Moved by Holmes, seconded by Pflug, to approve a 28E Agreement with Iowa Governmental Health Benefits for an employee Health and Related Benefits Program. Motion carried.
Moved by Fedler, seconded by Schulz, to approve the Consent Agenda that included the April 15, 2024 Board minutes, the claims for payment and a Special Class C Retail Alcohol License for Fat Jimmy’s Smoke House and Spirits, for the period May 1, 2024 through April 30, 2025. Motion carried.
Committee Reports: Holmes reported on an Iowa Workforce Development Board meeting and an Insurance Committee meeting. Schulz reported on a Great River Landfill Board meeting. Seyb reported on a Collaborated Children’s Committees meeting and met the new director of the Safe Coalition in Fort Madison.
At 10:45 a.m. it was moved by Pflug, seconded by Holmes, to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried. The next meeting will be held on Monday, May 6, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at the Administration Building in Fort Madison.
